Junichiro Tanizaki, (24 July 1886 – 30 July 1965) was one of the major writers of modern Japanese literature. Some of his works present a shocking world of sexuality and erotic obsessions; others, less sensational, portray the
family life in the context of the changes in 20th-century Japanese society.
“In Praise of Shadows” heexpressed his nostalgic love for the Japanese traditions. Comparisons of light with darkness are used to contrast Western
and Asian cultures. The West, searching for light, while the oriental world the shadow, presented on topics as diverse as architecture, crafts, monastery toilets and women in the pleasure house darkness.
It's my pleasure to share with you all this, my Photobook, the first one, I have published and in honor to Tanizaki which shows 70 of my
